Posting Update
God what have I written.

Serpent's Mouth, Serpent's Teeth - Chapters 15-18

18 isn't posted yet. I think this is a pretty decent run of chapters tbh. They end the first half of the novel and start the second half. I'm pretty daunted by how fuckhugegiantic the second half of this story is going to be but. that's just what i've done to myself lol. In total that's 41k words.

Will the Real Mr. Bronner Please Stand Up

Now this, this is very silly. It's WIAW but like, a companion piece to "Funeral Shroud for Laertes" in that it takes place in the LOGH universe post canon where WIAW is an alt history novel. It's Bronner reviewing SMST, but talking about the character who is based on him in the story. It was really funny to both do an honest examination of my own work and have this fun playing with who is the author and what is the text. Which is just a thing I love to do. I really really like this one tbh.

Yeah I've finally caved and started writing the horny WIAW scenes that I intentionally skipped before lol. This one is fine content wise but it could stand a thorough SPAG edit tbh.

The Destruction of the Second Temple; or, We Accuse Genocide

Finally something non WIAW related. This is my "we're finally going to talk about the Earth Church" fic, and also a way for me to get my desire to write poetry out of my system. I'm honestly more proud of this than I've been of a piece of writing in a long long time. I think it's really good. Not to toot my own horn lol but I think I know how to recognize when I've hit exactly what I'm trying to say. And I think this one I managed it really well. Kinda a flop in terms of reception, but you can't win 'em all haha.

General Writing Status
Bad. Mostly bad. It's incredible that I was like "2021 was the worst fucking year ever" and then I went and made 2022 worse somehow. It's cool though. Whatever. I think I really want to write more short pieces b/c they feel very satisfying in the way that the giant mountain of SMST/WIAW in general doesn't. But also like the more I push SMST off, the worse it will be for my future self so idk. I'm not burned out on it i guess but I'm facing an uphill battle that scares me lol. I know that by just continuing to chip away at it I'll get there, but oh my god. I would like some wins. Pls.

It's been a decent time for medias...

• I saw tMG 3x! In NYC with Em and Lyra. In Boston with Lydia. And in Pawtucket with Finn.
• I read Tonio Kroger by Thomas Mann which totally eviscerated me
• I read Confessions of a Mask by Yukio Mishima which. hm. little too relateable.
• I read Castle Faggot by Derek McCormack which I didn't like that much. it had some interesting ideas but it didn't feel relevatory for me in the way i think it was trying to be.
• I watched One Eyed Jacks 1961 which was a decent movie if a bit long in the tooth.
• is that really the only movie i've watched in the past couple months? god. mess.

Life Update
Had covid. Got over covid. Had a really good hookup recently. I continue to go ice skating. I swim though not as often as I should. It's my birthday tomorrow whee. Idk things are fairly copacetic, which i guess also means boring. I'm trying to reorganize my house and make it better so I bought some ikea furniture. especially to set up a zone for writing so i'm not doing it on my couch with my broken laptop keyboard. but this is a perpetual work in progress. it costs so much money.

oh also i had a stupid drama with getting a credit card and then having fraud on it etc it's a hot mess. don't really want to think about it rn.

I'm really sad that it's fall. although there's some fun things I'm looking forward to, the winter is always such a shit season.

I hurt my right foot somehow and now it's hurt to walk for like 2 weeks. I'm very annoyed by this and if it's not better by friday I'm going to have to go to urgent care and be like "what is going on did i break my foot". every time i have something like this happen I'm like. god i hope i'm not DYING. I really need to get a doctor so i can go to a doctor when i have troubles but I don't know how to do this. my inability to like fill out paperwork is ruining my life and is probably going to get me actually killed.

work is somewhat stressful but mostly in a stupid way. so it's not worth discussing.

there was probably some other interesting stuff that happened but idk i forgot

What's on the Docket?
I won't bore you with the minutiae of tasks but here's the general outline

• Continue to plug away at SMST
• Write a couple short fics including a gift for Chief
• Organize my house like for real.
• Renew my passport.
• Maybe start working on christmas gifts that are going to take long amounts of time
• There's a couple books that i really need to read. I'm in the middle of Blood Meridian right now.
